The Chicago Bulls now look to free agency to improve the team

With the NBA free agency looming, the Chicago Bulls are looking for ways to add key pieces that help their team get back into title contention.

Chicago Bulls vice president Arturas Karnisovas has publicly said he would explore all avenues to improve the team and ensure that the unsatisfying results of this season wouldn’t happen again. With the 2023 free agency period looming on the horizon, this is the perfect opportunity for the Bulls to make some key moves that could give them a competitive edge for the next few years.

Confident in their ability to snag an impactful free agent

Not long after the NBA Draft concluded with the Bulls selecting a solid, young player in Julian Phillips, Karnisovas was a man who sounded confident in his team’s ability to capitalize on the upcoming free agency period. He has been vocal about his desire to land an impactful player that can help turn the Bulls’ fortunes around and lead them back into contention in the Eastern Conference.

“They will have to wait until free agency to see what we look like after that,” he said.

Address several needs

Aside from the team needing a court general, one pressing need is three-point shooting, as the Bulls ranked dead-last in three-pointers made and attempted this past season. According to NBC Sports Chicago’s K.C. Johnson, there are several high-quality perimeter snipers the team could consider.

“Max Strus, Jordan Clarkson, Jevon Carter, Seth Curry, Torrey Craig, Alec Burks, and Yuta Watanabe are some shooters who either will or may be available,” Johnson wrote.

“We have a lot of work to do,” Karnisovas added. “You’re obviously writing about how much work we need to do. People are telling me we need to get to it. So we will this week. We’re going to address our stuff in free agency.”
