James Gunn has shared a new Superman: Legacy tease on social media that has sparked a number of theories about a possible Man of Steel logo change.
A new Superman: Legacy tease by James Gunn sparks theories about a possible logo change for the Man of Steel in the upcoming movie. Gunn writes and directs Superman: Legacy with David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan as Superman and Lois Lane, respectively. The movie will reboot the hero and his supporting cast for Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC Universe, and one of the changes to this version of the character is being teased by Gunn.
On Bluesky (via @therealsupes), Gunn shared an image of Superman from the Fleischer cartoons, sparking theories that the hero’s animated suit would make its way onto Superman: Legacy.

The Fleischer Superman cartoons are a series of 17 shorts produced from 1941 to 1943. Adopting the Fleischer Superman suit would be a good way of showing the difference between Corenswet and Henry Cavill’s versions of Superman.
Superman Legacy’s Fleischer Influence Could Be Huge
The Fleischer cartoons were theatrical shorts that played before the big movies from September 1941 to July 1943. Superman was created in 1938, so the Fleischer cartoons came at the time when the character’s fame was not yet what it is today, serving as many people’s first exposure to Clark Kent and his alter ego. The Fleischer Superman cartoons were also responsible for giving Superman his power of flight.
As Superman: Legacy‘s title suggests, the upcoming film will explore different elements from the character’s long history. After Zack Snyder’s version of Superman with Cavill in the DCEU departed from the character’s boy scout attitude from the comics, Gunn is set to bring Superman more in line with his hopeful self in the new DC Universe. Adopting the Fleischer Superman cartoons’ suit in the movie would go a long way into hitting that point home.
Superman and Lois successfully brought the Fleischer Superman suit into live-action, with Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman telling a kid he just saved that his mom had made the costume for him. The Fleischer Superman suit just screams good-natured Superman, which would be a major point in Superman: Legacy‘s favor as the movie intends to bring the character back to basics. As the Fleischer cartoons came at a time when Superman was just becoming known to the general audience, the use of the animated suit in Superman: Legacy would perfectly fit the movie’s young take on the hero.
