Franchesca Ramsey is the first black woman to host a pilot episode of Comedy Central.

Comedian and actress Franchesca Ramsey is about to add a whole lot of Black girl magic to the world of late night comedy. On Tuesday, Comedy Central announced Ramsey’s pilot as one of its nine pilot orders. As executive producer, Ramsey will become the network’s first Black woman to host a pilot.

According to the network’s press release, Ramsey’s now highly- anticipated show will include “the most diverse set of comedians on TV (who) will heal America through brutal comedy, surprising guests, and breakdowns of the most pressing cultural issues you never knew you cared about.”

From her work as a YouTube vlogger, to a writer/contributor for the “The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore”, to a producer and host of MTV’s “Decoded”, Ramsey has consistently combined her love for comedy and activism to discuss topics such as race, identity, social justice, and pop culture.

“I’m just really excited to expose people to different identities, different conversations but also to kind of reframe how they think about Black women just by being myself,” Ramsey said.

The network has not yet announced the pilot’s run date, or if it will get picked up for series; however, with Franchesca Ramsey leading the show, we know that it’s only a matter of time.
