Keanu Reeves goes on to explain how it would be like getting on a bus with Bullock, “holding hands.” However, he still manages to infuse some action elements in his story.

Keanu Reeves expressed excitement about the idea of an interesting scenario involving him and Sandra Bullock on a bus. He envisioned a situation where they would be together and people would be curious about what was happening. Then, suddenly, the bus would come under attack.
“I know that would be awesome. Right, oh yeah.. just have like undercover cameras, just like Sandra and I just on the bus hanging out, holding hands, and then just people going ‘what is it what’s going on?’ And then, we’d have the bus attacked or something. And then we could do blacks like I could draw a weapon and shoot some people and she should go kick some as* and she’s trying to escape.”
Keanu Reeves Skipped Starring In The Sequel
After the success of Speed, director Jan de Bont set out to create a sequel, Speed 2. While de Bont managed to bring back Sandra Bullock for the project, Keanu Reeves decided not to return to his role. Reeves’ choice had a major impact on the film, taking it in a different direction and altering the beloved franchise’s dynamic.

During a guest appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Jan de Bont openly shared his concerns regarding the setting of Speed 2. He expressed his desire to collaborate with Sandra Bullock, emphasizing his admiration for her talent. Additionally, de Bont expressed his fondness for the character Jack Travis, underscoring the potential he saw in the project.
During a candid moment, Sandra Bullock openly shared her feelings regarding Speed 2, aligning with Keanu Reeves’ choice to not participate in the film. Bullock candidly expressed her lack of fondness for the project, admitting that she has been vocal about her dissatisfaction. Playfully, she commented, “Makes no sense. Slow boat. Slowly going towards an island,” highlighting her lighthearted take on the film’s concept.
