‘Flimsy’ Chelsea Player Is Statistically The Worst In Europe This Season At One Thing

Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson has collected an unwanted record this season.

According to stats-based website WhoScored, Nicolas Jackson has lost possession of the ball as a result of a poor first touch more than any other player in Europe so far this campaign.

It’s certainly not the kind of data that the 22-year-old forward will enjoying hearing.

WhoScored wrote on X: “Nicolas Jackson has lost possession as a result of an unsuccessful touch more times (26) than any other player in Europe’s top 5 leagues this season.”

First of all, it’s worth pointing out that we’ve actually enjoyed a fair amount of what we’ve seen from Jackson so far in Chelsea colours.

There’s a lot to admire about the youngster’s movement and energy, but he’s still got to piece a few bits of his game together. He should as he matures and gets more experience, though.

The first touch is something he should be able to sharpen up with a bit more attention to detail on holding the ball up. However, he’s largely going to be judged by how many goals he scores rather than his technical game.

Described a “flimsy” by talkSPORT pundit Andy Jacobs (talkSPORT), Jackson has fallen a way a little in recent games after a positive start.

With Armando Broja making his return at the weekend for the Blues, the striker competition could finally heat up in the weeks ahead. Hopefully, his comeback springs Jackson into life now his spot in the XI may be under threat.

On top of the close control, Jackson now has the most yellow cards in the Premier League (five). He’s going to miss next week’s Premier League fixture against Fulham through suspension due to a pile up of bookings for dissent.

Hopefully, everybody can stand by Jackson and allow him time to iron out the errors.
