Gal Gadot Provides Additional Information Regarding Meeting With James Gunn and DC

After confirming that Wonder Woman 3 is back in play, Gal Gadot reveals more details from her meeting with James Gunn and DC about the film.

  •  Previously, it seemed like Gadot wouldn’t return for the new DC Universe, but now it’s confirmed that Wonder Woman 3 is happening.
  •  Gal Gadot met with James Gunn and Peter Safran about Wonder Woman 3.
  •  The DC Studios co-CEOs assured her that she is in good hands, and they will develop the movie with her.

Gal Gadot has revealed more details about her Wonder Woman 3 meeting with James Gunn and DC. After Wonder Woman 3 with original director Patty Jenkins was canceled last December, it appeared as if Gadot would not return to the role in the rebooted DC Universe, which will replace the old DCEU, but that has now changed with the confirmation that Wonder Woman 3 is happening.

Speaking to Flaunt Magazine, Gadot offered more details on what she heard from DC Studios co-CEOs Gunn and Peter Safran during their meeting regarding Wonder Woman 3. According to the actress, Gunn and Safran told her, “We’re going to develop Wonder Woman 3 with you.” Gadot also revealed that the duo said to her that they loved her performance as Wonder Woman, telling the actress that she has “nothing to worry about.” Check out the full quote below:

I was invited to a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran [co-chairperson and CEO of DC alongside Gunn] and what they told me, and I’m quoting: ‘You’re in the best hands. We’re going to develop Wonder Woman 3 with you. [We] love you as Wonder Woman— you’ve got nothing to worry about.’ So time will tell.

How Wonder Woman 3 Can Fit Into The New DC Universe

Despite the character having originated in the old DCEU, Gadot’s Wonder Woman 3 can work as a DCU movie. After making waves with her first solo movie as the DC hero, 2017’s Wonder Woman, Gadot returned for a less-than-stellar second lead turn as Diana Prince. The sequel to her first solo adventure, Wonder Woman 1984, added to the list of divisive DCEU movies, and the bad reputation the film received certainly didn’t help Jenkins get her version of Wonder Woman 3 produced by Gunn and the new DC Studios team.

Fully breaking away from the DCEU could offer the breath of fresh air that Gadot’s Wonder Woman franchise needs after her disappointing second solo movie, as well as the character’s final two DCEU appearances coming in the form of cameos in movies that bombed at the box office this year, Shazam! Fury of the Gods and The Flash. While Gunn’s announcement of the DC Universe’s slate didn’t include a Wonder Woman movie, it can explain how Gadot’s Wonder Woman 3 might fit in the new DC Universe.

The DC Universe’s Chapter One will feature the Paradise Lost series on Max. The show will focus on the Amazons of Themyscira several years before Wonder Woman was 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧. That way, the series can set up the Wonder Woman corner of the DC Universe, adding in the Greek mythology elements that are key to the character in the comics but were missing from Diana’s DCEU adventures. That way, Wonder Woman 3 could debut after Paradise Lost ends its run, with the series allowing Gadot to soar even higher as Diana in her return film.
