His wife spent seven years trying to get pregnant – and joy filled the air when she finally gave 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡 to healthy twins last month in the hospital. But the mood changes quickly. Five hours after a ᴄᴇsᴀʀᴇᴀɴ sᴇᴄᴛɪᴏɴ in Manhattan, New York, Michal Lura Friedman, 44, ᴘᴀssᴇᴅ ᴀᴡᴀʏ. Her distraught husband Jay Snyder, 41, had to raise twins Jackson and Reverie on his own after the tragedy.
Doctors decided to give 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡 by Cᴇsᴀʀᴇᴀɴ sᴇᴄᴛɪᴏɴ on November 25 – three days ahead of schedule because Ms. Friedman had high ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ pressure. After she gave 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡 to a 6lb 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦 girl at 4:48pm and a 7lb 12oz boy at 4:50pm, doctors tried to stop the ʙʟᴇᴇᴅɪɴɢ, the New York Daily News reported. Mr. Snyder sat in another room and desperately prayed for her survival as he watched his new𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 babies. But his wife ᴅɪᴇᴅ later at 9:30 pm.
“One of the despicable things is that she doesn’t even really get a chance to hug her 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren,” he said. They pick up the babies with her, she sees them and smiles at me, but she’s like on meth,’ he said, adding that she was desperate to be a mother. “The hospital where she was treated, New York University Langone Medical Center, said it sends its ‘deepest sympathies’ to the family. Mr. Snyder was deeply saddened by all that had happened. And are now raising kids in a Manhattan apartment the couple just moved into. “Those kids will miss out on her very special love, the love Michal can’t wait to give them,” he told the New York Daily News. Snyder, who also goes by the stage name Dan Green, is a voice artist known for the Pokemon and Yu-gi-oh movies, as well as the video games Tekken and Sonic the Hedgehog.
Friedman, a South Carolina-𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 Buddhist, is a singer, songwriter and actress also known as ‘Michal the Girl’, DNA Info reports. The couple first met in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village; married in Williamsburg, Brooklyn; and recently moved to Inwood back to Manhattan. Mrs. Friedman is also a voice artist – although less well known than her husband – and has starred in the Nickelodeon animated series Speed Racer.
‘Many of you know Michal as a musician, but her biggest dream is to be a mother,’ said an email to friends and family, according to DNA Info. “Here they have been struggling to have 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren for many years and suddenly they have two beautiful 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren,” said family friend Greg Abbey. Mr. Snyder’s relatives and friends are currently helping him raise funds to help him raise his 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥 alone without his wife accompanying him.
