Little Sasha is one of just three babies in the world to be 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 with no eyes – but now he has found a loving home after being abandoned by his young mother
Adorable 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦 Sasha can’t help but smile as he’s smothered in hugs and kisses – despite his heartbreaking start in life.
The youngster, from Russia, was 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 with no eyes after being one of only three 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren in the whole world to be 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 with an incredibly rare condition.
Devastatingly, the little boy was then abandoned by his young mother and placed in the care of an orphanage.
The mum felt she couldn’t offer her 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦 the help he would need as he grew with his rare eye condition.
A nurse who cared for the little boy when he was just six months old said: “He is no different to other 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren, he plays and smiles just like any healthy 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦.
“He loves playing and adores swimming. He is a very cheerful 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦 indeed.”
The other 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren who were 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 with the same condition as Sasha, SOX2 anophthalmia syndrome, has other serious health problems.
But aside from two benign cysts on his forehead, which have now been removed, the little boy is fighting fit.

SOX2 anophthalmia syndrome affects just one 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥 in every 250,000 and leads to the abnormal development of the eyes and other body parts.
Sasha, who was 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 in Russia, is one of only three babies to be 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 in the world with no eyeballs, according to his doctors.
Sasha has now found a loving home of his own
Sadly, there is no hope the youngster will ever be able to see, however he has had tiny eye orbs implanted into his eye sockets to ensure that his face is not deformed as he grows.
He will need further surgery every six months while he grows to increase the size of the orbs.
And his condition hasn’t stopped him winning the hearts of all who cared for him as they desperately searched for a permanent loving home for little Sasha.
He was described as a “a peaceful, smiling 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦” who “smiles back as soon as he hears familiar voices”.
Then, last November, Sasha found his family and has now been adopted by parents from another city in Russia.
