Marvel Studios has unveiled Nova, an exciting addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The film, starring Finn Wolfhard as the titular hero Richard Rider, promises to introduce fans to one of Marvel’s most beloved cosmic characters. Slated for a 2026 release, Nova is directed by Chloe Zhao, blending her cosmic visual style with the grounded emotional storytelling that propelled Eternals to critical acclaim.
The story follows Richard Rider, a high school student who becomes the last surviving member of the Nova Corps after a catastrophic event destroys their home planet, Xandar. Tasked with wielding the Nova Force, Richard transforms into Nova, the human rocket, and must learn to harness his powers while defending Earth and the galaxy from an escalating Kree-Skrull conflict. Marvel fans will also see how Richard’s journey intertwines with upcoming MCU events leading to Avengers: Secret Wars.
Finn Wolfhard’s casting signals a younger, fresh-faced Nova, with his ability to portray vulnerability and courage making him a natural fit for the role. Veteran actor Ben Mendelsohn reprises his role as Talos, guiding Richard in his quest for justice while warning him of a mysterious galactic entity, rumored to be Annihilus.
